Jacob Westerberg focuses his practice on the defense of claims arising under the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act, as extended by the Defense Base Act, as well as claims brought pursuant to the War Hazards Compensation Act in federal tribunals throughout the United States.Mr. Westerberg brings valuable in-house experience to his practice, having previously served as Corporate Counsel for a global technology company. In that role, he advised business stakeholders on a wide range of legal and risk-management issues, negotiated and drafted technology-based service agreements, and supported the company in active litigation matters. His experience working directly with corporate decision-makers allows him to approach litigation with a practical, business-oriented perspective.Earlier in his career, Mr. Westerberg developed hands-on litigation experience through Boston University School of Law’s Civil Litigation Clinic, where he represented indigent clients in family law and employment discrimination matters as a certified student attorney. He also participated in the school’s Corporate Counsel Externship Program and served as an Article Editor for the Journal of Science and Technology Law. He earned his Juris Doctor from Boston University School of Law in 2020.In addition to his federal workers’ compensation defense practice, Mr. Westerberg is available to assist clients with corporate advisory matters and employment-related issues, including discrimination-related claims, drawing on both his prior in-house counsel experience and litigation background.He is admitted to practice law in the State of New York and the State of Colorado.
