Matthew L. Kislak received his Bachelor of Arts degree cum laude from Lehigh University in 2007. He received his Juris Doctor cum laude in 2010 from New York Law School, where he served as Notes and Comments Editor on the New York Law School Law Review and was a participant in the John Marshall Harlan Scholars Program, affiliated with the Center on Business and Financial Law.Mr. Kislak is admitted to practice in the state courts of New York and New Jersey as well as before the United States District Courts for the Eastern District of New York, Southern District of New York, and the District of New Jersey. His practice focuses on the defense of federal workers' compensation claims arising under the Defense Base Act and the Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act; the defense of claims and effectuating reimbursements and assumptions under the War Hazards Compensation Act; the defense and prosecution of claims and suits under the Jones Act, section 905(b) of the Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act and general maritime law; serving as outside general counsel to various corporations providing representation on contracts, corporate governance, entity formation and conversions; acquisitions and dispositions, employment, leasing and sales, and regulated industry compliance; civil, administrative, employment and commercial litigation in the insurance, maritime, construction, and intermodal transportation industries; real estate transactions and litigation; and commercial transactional matters.
